Assembly Rooms & Fashion MuseumThe Assembly Rooms were built in 1771 as a meeting place for the fashionable.
At the time the rooms would have looked impressive but today we are used to large halls such as these
so they no longer look extraordinary. You can go and have a look for free.

The Fashion Museum, in the basement of the Assembly Rooms, houses a collection of 18th, 19th and 20th century fashion
as well as the dresses of the year from 1969 to the present day. There is a charge for entry to the Fashion Museum.
