Buckler's HardBuckler's Hard - so called because here the gravel extended to the river's edge - is where great oak ships
were once built for the Royal Navy.
The museum explains how they were built and also has a reconstruction of the 18th century New Inn and a labourer's cottage.
|nearby attraction|
Stroll down to the water's edge, maybe stopping off in the shipyard boss's house - now a pub.
There's a 30 minute river cruise and for the energetic a 30 minute riverside walk to Beaulieu.
