Castle DrogoCastle Drogo was built between 1912 and 1931. The chap who built it obviously had more money than sense:
it's a country house designed to look like a castle. Except it doesn't really look like a castle and it's not
a particularly grand country house.
There are fewer rooms open to the public than you'd expect in such a large building.

The parkland is extensive and there are some formal gardens. The castle has a flat roof that leaks
and the steel beams are rusting. Without urgent repairs the castle may have to be abandoned.
But perhaps the castle would be more entertaining as a semi-ruined folly.
Castle Drogo is somewhere one ought to see because it's so odd, but don't expect too much wow factor.
