Elan Valley DamsThe Elan Valley dams were built at the turn of the 20th century to supply Birmingham with water. The result
is spectacular and beautiful. But imagine what an outcry there would be today if the valley was untouched and
Welsh Water proposed building 3 dams.

Even if it's tipping down the drive around the 4 Elan Valley dams and the Claerwen dam is awe-inspiring.
There's a visitor centre by the lowest dam with interesting films and displays.
And for the more energetic this is ideal bird watching and hiking country.
