Levant MineThe Levant mine has the only working mine steam engine that is still in its original location.
And a lovely little thing it is too. Installed in 1840, it was used to haul loads of ore up the mine shaft.
When it's running it's so quiet you hardly know it's going. Lovely.

There are regular guided tours of what remains of the above-ground buildings which give an interesting
insight into the mine, its history and how it operated.
The mine workings extend over a mile out under the sea, though you cannot go down.
