Paignton Pier
Oh dear, Paignton Pier used to be a good old-fashioned seaside pier. But (2015) they have changed it very much for the worse.
Gone are the fun 2p machines: the horse race, the roll a 2p and get cascades of 2ps if you win, the 2p waterfall machines.
In come (no doubt higher profit) machines that are no fun at all.

Some of the 2p machines that remain don't even pay out in 2ps - you get reams of tickets to exchange for plastic trinkets.
Even the remaining waterfall machines, festooned with tempting £5 notes and huge bundles of the those awful tickets,
seem almost never to pay out. We used to look forward to visiting the pier - we shan't be going again.
