Pendennis Castle

Henry VIII built the original fort and armed it with cannon to protect Falmouth from the French and Spanish. The Elizabethans added well-fortified ramparts and a surrounding dry ditch. The armaments were upgraded by the Victorians, then during WWI and again in WWII. So at Pendennis Castle you get an insight into how fortifications and gunnery evolved over 500 years. |next attraction|

Pendennis Castle

There's a museum detailing the castle's history, an exhibition of Butterworth's WWII cartoons and several other exhibits to wander round. Also just enough tunnels and passages to keep explorers interested. |map|  |more places to visit|
