St Michael's Mount

St Michael's Mount was a religious centre for 1500 years or more. Atop the mount the original 12th century building has had many alterations including a 14th century church rebuild and a splendid Victorian castle extension. Inside, the castle has the feel of a country house with improvements made well into the 20th century. Although now owned by the National Trust, the family who donated it still live in part of the building. |next attraction|

St Michael's Mount

For about 4 hours around low tide you can walk across the causeway, otherwise it's a short boat trip. Then a walk up the mount to what from some angles looks like a Disneyland fantasy castle. The garden clings precipitously to the granite cliff and is quite a feat of 18th century engineering. |map|  |more places to visit|
