Arundel Castle

If you think Arundel Castle is just a Victorian mock-castle, think again. The motte dates from 1068, the gatehouse from 1070 and the perfectly-preserved keep from the 12th century. The main body of the castle was extensively redeveloped in the 18th and 19th centuries. |next attraction|

There is plenty to see. The Victorian remodelling gives much of the interior a country house feel, though however many country houses you have visited you will be wowed by the magnificant Edwardian library.
