Chambercombe ManorChambercombe Manor is in the Doomsday Book but you'd never guess
it's that old by looking at the outside. You can enter the site, tearoom and smallish gardens free (£1 donation appreciated)
but the main attraction is the (quite expensive) tour of the Manor. It takes just over an hour,
is fascinating and the guide is extremely knowledgeable.

The Manor started as a Saxon hall and has been altered and added to over the last 1000 years or so.
You'll shudder at the story of the 17th century shipwreck victim Kate Oatway.
And, if you believe in that sort of thing, look out for her ghost walking the garden.
Several other spirits reputedly roam the house. Brrrr.
