Old Wardour Castle

Old Wardour Castle is in the middle of the countryside on the edge of a wood - great place for a walk or a picnic. The Castle is a ruin but you can climb up inside the turrets. The Civil War is, as so often, to blame for the Castle's state - gunpowder in the drainage tunnels. Interesting audio guide. |next attraction|

Old Wardour Castle

If you think you've seen the castle somewhere before you probably have - in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. In winter, November to March, the castle is only open Saturdays and Sundays: the brochure you'll pick up in hotels and Tourist Information Centres doesn't make that very clear. |map|  |more things to do|
