If you saw Michael Portillo's excellent Great British Railway Journeys on TV you'll have heard him waxing lyrical about the Riviera Line. It's not a preserved-in-aspic steam railway but the main line from Exeter to Paignton. For part of its length it runs along the sea wall and the views are delightful.
