Pevensey Castle
The Roman walls of Pevensey Castle enclose a large lawned area that you can enter free. Ideal for picnics.
Within the Roman walls stand the remains of the Norman/Medieval castle keep for which there is an entry charge.

There's not a lot left of the keep - a couple of dungeons, a couple of ground floor rooms,
a wooden stairway to an upper floor room. A small exhibition tells the story of the castle from AD290 onwards.
Not a great deal to explore but the place nevertheless has atmosphere and is worth a visit.
